Volokolamsk is located 98 kilometers from Moscow, in the northwest direction. This is an ancient and very beautiful city, 12 years older than Moscow. It was originally mentioned in the annals as the Drag on the Lama, because of the river that currently flows through the city.

Electric trains run from the Rizhsky railway station in Moscow to the Volokolamsk station. Electric trains of the Kursk direction also go there, departing from the stations "Podolsk", "Shcherbinka", "Depo", "Moscow - Kurskaya". Travel time from Kurskiy and Rizhskiy stations is about two hours. In recent years, the Sputnik express train runs from the Rizhsky railway station three times a day, which allows you to get to Volokolamsk much faster.
Step 2
By bus you can get to Volokolamsk from the bus station located next to the metro station "Tushinskaya". Bus station address: Stratonavtov proezd, house 9. Buses run daily, several times a day. The bus travel time is about two hours, excluding traffic jams at the exit from Moscow.
Step 3
By car, you can get to Volokolamsk in two ways - along the Volokolamskoye and Novorizhskoye highways. If you choose the first way, there is a chance to get into an almost round-the-clock traffic jam at the entrance to Krasnogorsk near Moscow. In addition, the Volokolamskoe highway is narrower than the Novorizhskoe highway, which can create inconveniences on the way. Novorizhskoe highway is more modern and wider. It is more convenient to ride on it if you have time to pass the section where the road is being expanded at the exit from Moscow, before rush hour.
Step 4
You can also get to Volokolamsk by train. There are three stops in this city - "Latvia-Express", Moscow-Velikie Luki and Moscow-Pskov, departing from the Rizhsky railway station. Travel time is about two hours.
