Step 1
Travel to Kaliningrad by train. It would seem that this option is the simplest and cheapest. But it has its own characteristics. This train travels through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania. After Lithuania joined the European Union, all passengers traveling to Kaliningrad are required to have a foreign passport. Only with this document you can buy a ticket and get on the train. But that's not all. After the train departs, you need to fill out a special form, according to which you will be given a UTD (simplified transit document). This document is valid for round trip travel. Trains depart from Moscow in the Kaliningrad direction from the Belorussky railway station.
Step 2
Fly to Kaliningrad by plane. If you do not have a foreign passport, you can buy a plane ticket. To do this, you only need an ordinary Russian passport. You can buy a ticket at any ticket office, representative office of an air carrier or via the Internet. Several regular flights of different airlines fly from Moscow to Kaliningrad every day. Flight time is about 1 hour 50 minutes. There are also flights from other cities, but many of them do not operate every day or fly only during a certain season.
Step 3
Sail to Kaliningrad by ferry. The most interesting way to get to Kaliningrad is to travel by ferry across the Baltic Sea. The ferry runs between Ust-Luga (150 km from St. Petersburg) and the city of Baltiysk (45 km from Kaliningrad). The trip will take about 40 hours. Comfortable cabins are provided for passengers, and three meals a day are already included in the ticket price. In addition, the ferry is capable of carrying 330 passenger cars. Therefore, you can go on a trip with your own car, which will greatly facilitate sightseeing in the Kaliningrad region.
