Step 1
Start your acquaintance with the city from the Central District. There are several metro stations here - for example, "Nevsky Prospect", "Gostiny Dvor", "Mayakovskaya", "Ploschad Vosstaniya". In the Central District you will find many attractions - the State Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, Smolny Cathedral, several theaters and the most famous shops.
Step 2
Several historically formed districts border on the Central. These are Admiralteisky, Vasileostrovsky, Petrogradsky, Vyborgsky, Kalininsky, Krasnogvardeisky, Nevsky and Frunzensky. In each of them you will find a lot of interesting things. On Vasilievsky Island there are the famous Rostral Columns, the Kunstkamera, the Academy of Arts, the A. D. Menshikov, Pushkin House, not to mention the fact that the embankments here are amazingly beautiful. In the Petrograd region there are the Peter and Paul Fortress, the State Museum of Missile Forces and Artillery, the Botanical Garden, and the Zoo. Admiralteisky District - a magnificent park, streets and canals of New Holland. In the Krasnogvardeisky district there are unique historical monuments of the Okhtinsky cape.

Somewhat further from the center are the Kirovsky, Moskovsky and Primorsky districts. In the Kirovsky district, you will find several quarters of St. Petersburg at the beginning of the last century - a working suburb with small houses and cozy courtyards. In the Moskovsky district there is a Victory Park, a Sports and Concert Complex, and the Moscow Gate. In the Primorsky district there is Elagin Island, where the Central Park of Culture and Rest named after V. I. CM. Kirov.

Some districts have entered the St. Petersburg line relatively recently. These were once the suburbs. These are such districts as Krasnoselsky, Petrodvortsovy, Pushkinsky, Kurortny and Kolpinsky. There are several well-preserved old estates in the Krasnoselsky district, although in general this part of St. Petersburg is built up with modern houses. The famous palace and park complex is located in the Pushkin district. This area also includes Pavlovsk with a beautiful park and palace. The legendary Izhora plant is located in the Kolpinsky district, in the Kurortny district there are beaches, houses of creativity, including the estate of IE Repin "Penaty". But the real record holder for the number of historical monuments is the Petrodvorets District. There are several palace and park complexes - Strelna, Peterhof, Oranienbaum. The Kronstadt region with its port, ancient forts, and monuments of military history is also located within the borders of St. Petersburg. It takes a long time to get to these areas from the center of St. Petersburg. There is a metro station in the Krasnoselsky district - "Prospect of Veterans". Minibuses and electric trains go to Pushkinsky, Petrodvortsovy and Kolpinsky, and now you can get to Kronstadtsky only by minibus or bus, since after the opening of the dam, ferries to Kronstadt no longer run.
