Step 1

The Chokrak mud lake is located 18 km from Kerch on the southern coast of the Sea of Azov. The very name Chokrak in translation from the Turkic means "fontanelle". Chokrak has a fairly large area - 8, 7 square kilometers, as well as a relatively shallow depth, which reaches a maximum of 1, 3 meters. The geographical location of the lake can rightfully be considered unique. On three sides, its banks are surrounded by steep cliffs, on which such medicinal plants as hawthorn, wild rose, willow-herb, thyme and many others grow. But as for the fourth side, the northern one, it rests against a small sandy strip only 350 meters wide, behind which the Sea of Azov stretches. It is interesting that the first mud baths in Crimea was opened here in the middle of the 19th century, but written evidence of the use of Chokrak mud for medical purposes dates back to the time of the legendary Mithridates, and he ruled the Bosporan kingdom in the 1st century BC.

Step 2

The uniqueness of the Chokrak deposit lies in the fact that all three factors are involved in the formation of its healing mud: the sea, springs and mud volcanoes. Lake Chokrak is separated from the Sea of Azov by a sandy embankment. Filtered through the sand of the spillway, sea water enters the lake. At the same time, all man-made pollutants remain in the sand, so the purest seawater enters the lake. The natural factor in the formation of mud at the Chokrak deposit are springs - sources of mineral water. A large number of them are found on the shores of the lake and at its bottom. The results of analyzes of water samples from them showed that most of them differ from each other in the degree of mineralization and chemical composition. They are united by one thing - the water of each of the springs has medicinal properties. The minerals of these waters make up an important part of the Chokrak healing mud and brine. Mud formation of the Chokrak deposit is served by several mud volcanoes-hills located at the bottom of the lake. As a result of their centuries-old activity, more than 4.5 million tons of finely dispersed minerals have accumulated in the lake, which they carried to the bottom of the lake from the earth's interior. Mixing with precipitated mineral salts of sea water and water from springs and springs, they formed the Chokrak healing mud. But its healing properties would not be so powerful if it were not for the activity of a large list of specialized algae and microorganisms, many of which are endemic and inherent only in Lake Chokrak. As a result of their vital activity in the lake, new substances and compounds are formed in its mud from minerals and salts. The presence of these substances and compounds in the Chokrak mud gives it powerful additional healing power and versatility, making it highly effective in treating a very large list of various diseases of the human body.

Step 3

According to experts, Chokrak mud treats rheumatism, arthrosis, osteochondrosis, neuritis, sciatica, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, chronic rhinitis, infertility, and improves immunity. The mud is also used for cosmetic purposes - for facial skin rejuvenation (masks) and hair strengthening. When using it, you can do without soap, as the hair becomes soft and the body is clean. Currently, Chokrak mud is exported to the sanatoriums of Feodosia and South Coast. Unfortunately, there is not a single balneological institution on the lake itself.
