To view Pyatigorsk, the best way is to climb Mount Mashuk. In addition to the hiking trail, there is a cable car. The ascent, 964 meters long, will take only a few minutes. Several stops are made along the way so that tourists can better see the surroundings. The main views are from the observation decks at the top of the mountain. Elbrus, Mount Beshtau and the steppe expanses are remarkably visible from here.

Pyatigorsk is not deprived of historical architectural creations. At the foot of Mount Mashuk are the buildings of the brothers Giuseppe and Giovanni Bernardazzi. The gazebo "Eolova Harp" can be seen walking through the Emanuelevsky Park. Going down the slope, you can see Diana's grotto, Nikolaev baths, the State restaurant and a Catholic church. These creations date from the first half of the 19th century.

The famous Proval is located near the Mashuk mountain. It is a karst cave with a bright blue lake. From thermal water bubbles of hydrogen sulfide periodically rise to the surface, filling the air with a specific smell. This cave is famous for the film "12 Chairs", in which Ostap Bender collected money to repair the Proval. A monument to the great industrialist Ostap Bender is erected next to the cave.
