If you have booked a hotel and then decided to change it, this is possible. However, everything will depend on where you booked it. If you bought a tour from an agency, you need to study the contract. If you booked on the websites of international booking systems or directly on the hotel's website, there will be different conditions.
Instructions
Step 1
If you contacted a travel agency and purchased a package tour, read the contract. Pay special attention to the point where the conditions for changing and canceling this tour are outlined. Also, a lot will depend on how many days are left before your trip. As a rule, there is a penalty for any changes to a confirmed trip. Its size depends on the individual agreements between the tour operator and the hotel and other internal factors.
Step 2
Call the agency and tell them that you have decided to change the hotel. The manager will contact the tour operator and specify the amount of the fine. If you are satisfied with this amount, he will cancel your reservation and pick up another hotel. You just have to pay the difference. If there are only a few days left before departure, you are unlikely to be able to change the hotel. Under the terms of a standard contract, you will be fined at least 70-80% of the total cost of the tour.
Step 3
If you have booked a private tour with a travel agency or tour operator and you have 3-4 weeks left before your trip, you can expect to avoid penalties. Contact your agent and explain the matter. If this is not a package tour, the cancellation policy may be more flexible.
Step 4
If you have booked a hotel on one of the specialized sites, it will be easier to cancel your reservation. In this case, you will also need to read the contract. In most cases, there are no penalties for cancellation. If so, simply cancel your booking and book another hotel. Sometimes it happens that a penalty is provided for a specific reservation. Its sum can be equal to the sum of one day of stay at the hotel. If you are satisfied with this option, this money will be debited from your bank card.
Step 5
In case of booking a room directly on the hotel website, the cancellation scheme is approximately the same. Here, too, everything will depend on the type of room and the terms of the contract. If there are no cancellation fees, please cancel.
Step 6
Before booking this or that hotel, make sure that you want to go to it. Explore the photos, find out all the details you are interested in, and be sure to read reviews of recently returned tourists. If you still have questions, contact the hotel manager and clarify all the details you are interested in, or ask your travel agent questions (if you are traveling through an agency).
