India is a hospitable and mysterious country. Here people believe that the guest is a reflection of God. The centuries-old culture, customs and nature - all this is of interest to tourists, but at the same time it is fraught with many dangers.
Instructions
Step 1
While in India, behave in a friendly and respectful manner towards the local population. Hindus are very friendly and warm-hearted people. However, try to see the sights in a group, use the services of a guide, women are not advised to walk around the Indian environs alone, especially at night.
Step 2
Be sure to observe cleanliness and hygiene. The country has a difficult sanitary and hygienic situation. To protect yourself from various consequences associated with this, eat only on the territory of the hotel.
Step 3
If you nevertheless decide to have a snack on the street, make sure that the fruits you eat are well washed, and preferably scalded with boiling water. If you cannot control the preparation of cold dishes, especially salads with fresh vegetables or fruits, do not order them. Avoid raw water, not only to quench your thirst, but also to brush your teeth, wash fruits and vegetables. It is also better to refuse this ice. Use water only in plastic bottles and wash your hands with special “red” soap.
Step 4
Do not forget to get the necessary vaccinations in advance and collect a first aid kit. Please note that in many Indian cities, the air is not very clean, and if you are susceptible to breathing problems, you may need medication. Make sure you have disinfectants, antibiotics, medication for gastrointestinal disorders, etc. in your medicine cabinet.
Step 5
Please note that the Cerbera odollam tree grows in the Indian state of Kerala. In Indian it sounds like "osalanga maram". It is extremely dangerous to humans. Its poisonous fruit contains the toxin serberine, which, when consumed, affects the heart and causes death. When unripe, they resemble mango fruits, which can be misleading for tourists who are not too versed in tropical flora. This tree, reaching a height of about 15 m, has dark green leaves and milky white sap. The large white flowers give off a scent very similar to that of jasmine. The fruits of this plant are often poisoned by children, mistaking them for mango fruits.
Step 6
Treat objects of worship with respect. Observe all the rules when visiting temples, about which you should consult your guide in advance. It will not be superfluous to find out when you can use the camera, and when it is better not to take it with you at all.
Step 7
Do not hug or kiss in public. Use the traditional greeting - folded palms. Remember that you cannot shake hands with women if she does not offer it first. It is also not customary to put your hand on your shoulder when talking.
Step 8
Avoid loose hair, short (shorter than the ankles) and tight clothing during your stay in India. Make sure that the soles of your shoes are not facing the other person. This is a sign of disrespect.
Step 9
Remember to take off your shoes not only when visiting the temple, but also before entering offices, medical centers, guest houses, etc. Take disposable socks with you.
Step 10
Be prepared for the fact that, unfortunately, pickpocketing and baggage theft is quite common in India. Therefore, be sure to keep all valuables, documents and money in the hotel safe. Keep an eye on your luggage while transporting it.
