Determination of the cardinal points is often a problem for a modern person. Not everyone learned geography on the scale, and not everyone knows how to use a compass either. It never hurts to brush up on useful knowledge.

You will know the direction to the west as soon as you determine where the north is. If you face north, west will be on your left.
Step 2
In addition, the direction to the west can be indicated by the sun when it sets. It comes in the west.

West is opposite to east. The sun rises in the east.

If you own a communicator based on iOS or Android, then, as a rule, you can find a compass application in them, which will show you the cardinal points (not too accurately).
Step 5
If you suddenly have an ordinary compass, place it horizontally and determine north, and then west. The measurement will not be entirely accurate due to the difference between the magnetic and geographic poles, but should be sufficient for most needs.
Step 6
If it happens at night, watch the stars. Not only can you set north according to Polaris (Alpha Ursa Minor), the stars on each cardinal direction move slightly differently: in the west they will move from left to right and from top to bottom (usually half an hour is enough to observe).
