The state with the head - the Pope - is the smallest in the world. Despite this, the Vatican even has its own railway, mint and many other places of interest.

The Castle of Sant'Angelo was planned to be rebuilt by the Roman emperor Hadrian during his reign. He wanted this huge building to become a tomb for him. Everything turned out as he planned, but later the Romans began to bury all other emperors in the castle. And after some time, in the 6th century, due to hostilities, the tomb began to serve as a fortress. Nowadays, the fortress looks rather gloomy and much has been lost from its former beauty.

The Vatican Museums do not consist of one hall, there are several of them and their length is 9 kilometers. There you can see frescoes by the great Michelangelo and Raphael's Chambers. And in the Sistine Chapel you can look at the rooms and frescoes painted by Botticelli, although you cannot take pictures and talk in the Chapel. Be prepared for the fact that excursions in Russian are not offered there.

St. Peter's Basilica is similar in shape to a Catholic cross. It took over 100 years to build the cathedral. Michelangelo was involved in the design and construction of the dome, believing that by doing so he served the Lord. People come to this temple to find peace. The building accommodates over 100 people. In the center of the cathedral there is an altar, and under the altar is buried Saint Peter, who, according to legend, was killed in the place where the cathedral was later built.

And of course, the Papal Palace. True, the only thing that tourists can do is take photographs for memory, since the Vatican's guard does not let anyone into the palace. The uniform, invented by Michelangelo, is still worn by the guardsmen.
