A city that excited A. P. Chekhov with its beauty and romance. A city in which more than 400 gondoliers ride tourists along the canals. A city of incomparable architecture. A city where girls dream of getting a marriage proposal. This city is Venice.
Santa Lucia train station is named after the Church of Saint Lucia, which was once located on the territory of the station. The station itself is not like the rest of Venice. It was built in the 19th century, so it looks quite modern. It is considered a landmark of the city, having visited this station, a tourist will be able to feel the contrast.
Mark's Cathedral, built in the 11th century, with pink marble floors, contains an altarpiece covered in jewels - a masterpiece of jewelry. This cathedral used to elect the head of the Republic.
Murano island. It is here that the famous Murano glass and Venetian chandeliers are produced. The glass is very transparent and fragile, which indicates the good quality of the product and its high cost. And this is true, products made of such glass are very expensive, but if you have a few dozen extra euros with you, you will have enough for a Murano glass keychain.
Grand Canal. If, getting on the vaporetto (water bus in Venice, a form of public transport), you choose the longest route and buy a ticket for a day, not an hour, you will be able to see almost the entire city. As well as St. Mark's Square and the Grand Canal. And with all this, you will save a lot, because a vaporetto ticket costs about 15 euros, and if you want to travel the same route in a gondola, you will have to pay about 80 euros in just an hour.
