In the south of the Kemerovo region, Gornaya Shoria is located among the mighty Siberian ridges. The area owes its name to the indigenous people of this region - the Shors. Since ancient times, Shoria has been famous for its beauty: all around there is taiga, rivers with water as clear as a tear, flood meadows, snow-covered slopes … The air is clean and healing. Isn't it Siberian Switzerland ?! Sables, ermines, lynxes are found here, and sometimes the figure of … Bigfoot flashes on the mountain slopes.

Master of the taiga

The main legend and brand of Gornaya Shoria has many names - yeti, bigfoot, dark man, master of the taiga. Those who were lucky enough to look at this creature with one eye, claim that from a distance it resembles a bear, but the footprints are very similar to human ones. Anyone can go in search of the Yeti by booking a thematic excursion. The main meeting place with the Bigfoot is his home, the Azasskaya Cave.

Those who fail to take a sensational picture of the owner of the taiga can be comforted by buying magnets or other souvenir symbols depicting a local star. Another way to touch the legend is to get to the city of Tashtagol (the center of Gornaya Shoria), where a Yeti monument is erected. About 20 km from Tashtagol, in the Sheregesh ski resort, the Yeti House hotel and cafes are open, where all the snowmen are invited to the light.

We get up on skis

Sheregesh, or simply Gesh, is one of the best ski resorts in the country. It is known for its light and fluffy snow here. It is a pleasure to ride on it! The season runs from November to April. March is considered ideal for a trip, when Siberian frosts begin to subside and daylight hours increase.

Sheregesh has slopes for skiers of any level. The main ski areas are located on Mount Zelenaya (1270 m). Beginners need it here. More advanced skiers conquer the neighboring peak - Utuya. The QuikSilver park is open for snowboarders, and young athletes are welcome at the Nevalyashka ski school. Horse rides are popular year-round entertainment.

Numerous cafes both on the peaks and at the foot of the mountains invite you to take a break from active activities. The hit of the winter menu is tea infused with aromatic taiga herbs.

How to get there. A flight on the route Moscow - Novokuznetsk - Moscow will cost about 11,500 rubles. The journey will take about 4, 5 hours. Regular buses run from Novokuznetsk to Sheregesh, and you can also take a train.

Where to stay. Double room in the Olga Hotel - from 3,000 rubles per day, in the Russkaya Izba Hotel - from 2,800 rubles.

Renting ski equipment for a day costs about 750 rubles per person.
