Step 1

There are several ways to get from the airport to the city. The first is the most expensive and it is not a fact that the fastest is a taxi. The fare from the airport to the city center is approximately 30-35 euros. However, it must be remembered that traffic jams are an unpleasant reality of a multi-million dollar city, so you risk spending several hours of precious travel time looking out of the taxi window at other cars.

Another way, much cheaper, but also associated with traffic jams, is the express bus. Its peculiarity can be called round-the-clock work with an interval of 15 minutes during the day and half an hour at night. You can distinguish it by its yellow color. Traveling on it will cost you 5 euros and will take about 40 minutes. The nearest stop is Atocha train station, located in the city center.

One of the most convenient ways to get from Barajas Airport is by metro. You can use it without leaving the terminal. The peculiarity of this method is that by metro you can leave any terminal - on the metro map the line connecting the airport with the city center is marked in pink - line no. 8 "Nuevos Ministerios". The metro operates from 6 am to 1.30 am.
Step 5
If you want to get from the airport to the Atocha train station, the most convenient way for you is the train, which runs from terminal 4 every half hour from 5 to 23 hours. The road to the station will take less than half an hour. The fare will be about 3 euros.

You can buy tickets for the metro and the train in vending machines, which are located in large numbers at all terminals of the airport. It should be remembered that the machines do not accept plastic cards and banknotes larger than 20 euros, so stock up on small money in advance. Also, in Spanish trains, the doors do not open on their own; to open the door, you need to press the button on the side of the door. The buttons are located both on the inside and on the outside of the cars.
