Prepare a theoretical base: First, you need to study theoretical material related to the centuries-old history and culture of Moscow. For this, you can use books from the library, educational films, fiction, local history publications. The direction of the search for material depends on what exactly interests you: literary Moscow (then we are looking for literary museums, memorial apartments, habitats of the heroes of novels, etc.), city mansions of the 19th century, metro legends or the Soviet architectural heritage of the capital.
Step 2
Make a plan of excursions. In accordance with the chosen topic, you need to draw up a plan for exploring a particular part of the city. On the websites of museums you can find out about the services and developed routes. You will discover many new museums: the Cold War, the Yuri Detochkin car theft, packaging, the Moscow Lights museum … You can independently inspect the courtyards and famous houses, but first, draw out convenient routes, each of which should be designed for one and a half or two hours.
Step 3
Look for like-minded people. Old-timers and collectors of urban legends, local historians and defenders of architecture, history students and guides - they all do the same as you. Therefore, it makes sense to unite in groups. Often, amateur Moscow scholars can tell more interesting facts than professionals. Excursions along ancient streets and historical sites are often held in the capital. Such thematic meetings can be found on the Internet. Soon, you yourself will be able to organize something similar: the main thing is to choose the area that interests you.

Take notes of your travels in Moscow. Record on paper or on the Internet your impressions of walks in the places you read about, which you have visited. Take photo reports, keep a diary. This will help you structure the knowledge and information you receive locally. Perhaps your notes will resonate with friends or like-minded people.
