One of the best ways to experience the atmosphere of an unfamiliar city is to take long walks. Especially when it comes to Paris - a place that thousands of people from all over the planet dream of getting to. Having refused excursions and walking around the capital of France on your own, do not be afraid to get lost: it is quite simple to navigate in this city.
Necessary
- - map of Paris;
- - hotel business card;
- - subway scheme.
Instructions
Step 1
Get a free city map from your hotel or street counters. It is advisable to choose a copy where all the inscriptions are duplicated in Russian, or there are small pictures with sights. This way you can easily use the map and choose the routes you want. Do not forget to take a business card of the hotel: in a critical situation you can always show the address of the hotel to a taxi driver or a policeman, and they will help you to get to the place. If you are staying in an apartment, try to write down or learn the address in French.
Step 2
Explore the metro map as it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get around Paris. For the first visit, it is enough to use the la Defense line, which crosses the entire city, being its historical axis. By choosing a train on this line, you can build the best route, easily switching to other stations. In addition, La Defense will allow you to see the key attractions of the French capital: Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, Champs Elysees, Louvre.
Step 3
Choose the Louvre as a starting point to explore the city on your own. It is from this place that the territorial division of Paris into 20 arrondissements (arrondissement) begins, each of which has 4 quarters. Districts do not have names, only numbers, but this only simplifies orientation: at the border of each of them you will see the number and understand how far you have moved from the center.
