Cyprus hotels
Among the huge number of hotels in Cyprus, you can choose modest rooms at a price of 40 euros per day, and luxurious apartments costing more than 450 euros. The maximum distance of the hotel from the seashore is 300 meters. In three-star hotels, the average cost of a double room is 60 euros per night. A similar room in a four-star hotel will cost 125 euros, in a five-star double room it will start at 300 euros per day.
Food in cafes and restaurants
There are catering establishments in Cyprus for every taste and budget. As in all resort areas, there are cafes for tourists, different from those for local residents. There the portions are smaller, and the prices are higher. To eat tasty and inexpensive food, you need to go deep into the city, away from hotels. The best guide will be young housewives who don't cook themselves very often. Most women in Cyprus buy ready-made food in some kind of tavern. Most often, they place an order over the phone, and then come to pick it up before dinner. The congestion of women and mothers with baby strollers outside the café is a sure sign that the cuisine here is excellent and inexpensive.
On average, breakfast in a cafe in the tourist area will cost 5-6 euros, lunch without alcohol is about 40 euros. The cheapest wine is local, it costs 5-7 euros per bottle. In remote taverns, the cost of food is 20% lower. Don't forget about the tip either. Here they are traditional and make up 5-10% of the order value.
Excursions
You can order a tour in the lobby of your hotel, at any tourist kiosk on the street, or see the sights on your own. The most expensive excursions are booked at the hotel. However, this is the most convenient option, you will be woken up, picked up from the hotel and brought back. At tourist kiosks the price is lower, there may be more choice. Average cost of excursions in Cyprus:
- Troodos, Kykkos Monastery (adults - 45 euros, children - 23 euros);
- Famagusta and surroundings (adults - 65 euros, children - 35 euros);
- excursion from Nicosia to the village of Lefkara (adult - 58 euros, children - 30 euros).
A very modest tourist can visit such free attractions as ancient amphitheaters, temples of the Byzantine period, various ruins and excavations, which abound in Cyprus. Sometimes a simple walk around the city, a visit to a market or a trip to nature can bring a lot of impressions.
Transport
The most expensive way to travel is by taxi. The tariff is divided into day and night. During the day, boarding costs 3.42 euros, you will also have to pay 0.7 euros for each kilometer. From 20:00 to 06:00 in the morning there is a night tariff: boarding - 4, 36 euros, a kilometer of travel - 0, 85 euros.
You can use buses, but, unfortunately, there are not so many routes, since every Cypriot family has several cars. Local residents rarely use public transport. Most of the buses are for tourists. The cost of a day pass is 10 euros, a weekly pass is 50 euros.
If you are planning to stay in Cyprus for more than a week, it makes sense to rent a car. Most companies have websites. You can book a car while still at home, this will allow you to save a little on the rental cost and get into the car already at the airport. Car rental prices start from 32 euros per day.
Active tourists can rent a bike. Cycling tourism has become very popular lately. The rental offices issue not only full equipment, but also special maps with official routes. No excursion will bring the experience of cycling. When renting a bike from one to three days, the cost per day will be 5 euros. From four to six days - 3 euros, and from the seventh day, renting a bike will cost 2 euros per day.
