If you go from the direction of Moscow
The capital is connected with Gelendzhik by the modern recently reconstructed federal highway M4 - "Don". It passes through the territory of Moscow, Tula, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Rostov regions and Krasnodar Territory. From Krasnodar along it you will reach first to Novorossiysk, and from there to Gelendzhik only 25 km. For those who go to the sea from St. Petersburg or other northern territories of the central part of the country, it makes sense to first get to Moscow, and then go south along the M4 highway.
Of course, during the holiday season, the traffic load is especially high, and many autotourists complain about the numerous traffic jams in the Rostov region. Experienced tourists recommend calculating the travel time so that you can pass Rostov at night, in this case in the morning you will be in Krasnodar and by the middle of the day you will reach Gelendzhik, where intermediaries offering accommodation are located along the central street. But, of course, it is better to book a place to stay in advance, since it is not a fact that you can easily rent something suitable, especially in August, at the height of the holiday season.
How to get from the Volga
In the event that your route begins in the eastern regions of Russia, it makes no sense to go to Moscow. It is best in this case to use the proven route through Syzran-Saratov-Volgograd-Salsk-Krasnodar-Goryachy Klyuch-Dzhubga-Gelendzhik. True, autotourists note a not very good road from Syzran to Saratov and a large number of heavy trucks from Saratov to Volgograd, which, of course, affects the speed of movement. Please note that the section of the road from Volgograd to Salsk cannot be called busy, so it is better to fill up the car and have a snack in Volgograd. You can meet a large number of traffic cops in the area of the fork with the M27 - "Caucasus" highway, which will lead you to Krasnodar, therefore, although the highway is wide here, follow the traffic rules.
