From time to time we all have to leave Russia. Before getting on board the plane, we need to go through customs control. What do you need to know about this?
You can find detailed rules for passing customs control on the websites of international airports - Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. But it is better to remember the basic instructions so that there are no problems with checking on the terminal.
What do you need to know when traveling abroad? First, do not forget your passport at home. Its validity period must be at least 6 months from the date of return from the trip. Also, a visa must be put in the passport if you are going to a country with which Russia does not have visa-free agreements. Also check the availability of a plane ticket and a transfer and hotel voucher if necessary
You can take with you without a declaration no more than USD 3,000 or the same amount in rubles. All other funds, as well as weapons and cultural values, must be declared. You can also import or export no more than 3 liters of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars. Goods for personal use should not exceed 1500 euros in value, and their weight should not be more than 50 kg. These rules do not apply to some groups of citizens. Certain exceptions have been made for diplomats, for example.
You also need to know that you cannot take liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml in your carry-on baggage. This does not apply only to baby food and some medicines. All containers with a large capacity must be checked in. In addition, piercing and cutting objects, even a nail file from a manicure set, are not allowed in carry-on baggage. Therefore, pack everything in your suitcase and check it in the luggage compartment.
The procedure for passing through customs control itself is quite simple. First you need to check in your oversized baggage. Your passport or plane ticket will be tagged with the number assigned to your bags and suitcases. Don't lose this ticket! With its help, it will be possible to track down baggage in case of its loss. You will also be given a boarding pass and your arrival on the flight will be registered.
Next, you go through passport control, then personal search. Customs officials will ask you to place your carry-on baggage and personal items on the scanner belt. In the absence of prohibited items in your belongings, you can freely go to the duty-free zone. There you can buy a variety of products that are not subject to sales tax.
Then you go to the departure hall, upon entering the plane you just need to present your boarding pass. Please note that check-in for the flight starts 3 hours and ends 40 minutes before departure. Don't be late!
