Actually, Koh Chang is a group of picturesque islands south of the coast of Thailand, as well as a national reserve. However, this name is usually understood as the largest island of this group. It has everything you need for a measured life away from the hustle and bustle. One problem is that it is quite difficult to get there.

Step 1
Chang Island (since "Ko" in Thai means "island") was opened for tourism relatively recently, which is why there is a feeling of remoteness from civilization. At the same time, there are several first-class hotels and restaurants on Chang.
Step 2
There is no sea traffic between the islands of Thailand. Therefore, it is possible to get to Koh Chang by ferry or plane. Ferries to Chang leave from a single place - a pier near the city of Trat, located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. However, planes from Bangkok also fly to Trat.
Step 3
The most expensive and fastest way to get to Trat is by plane from Bangkok, Bangkok Airways owns Trat airport, so you need to fly with it. There are several daily flights Bangkok-Trat or Trat-Bangkok, the cost of the flight is about three thousand baht, but there are also seasonal discounts. The flight takes 50 minutes. At the airport, you can take a shuttle to the desired hotel on Chang itself. It should be noted that there are flights to Trat from Phuket and Koh Samui three or four times a week.

If you want to save money, you can use the regular buses. They depart regularly from Mo Chit and Ekkamai bus terminals (from Ekkamai station every hour and a half, from Mo Chit station every two hours), the ticket price is around 250 baht. The final bus stop must be listed as Trat Bus Terminal. These buses run to the center of Trat, so in the city you will need to find transport that follows to the pier where ferries leave for Koh Chang. Since the distance to the pier is short (about 17 kilometers), you can try taking a taxi.
Step 5
If you get to the island directly after arriving in Thailand, it is possible to get to the bus stop near Suvarnabhumi (airport), which is regularly served by white free buses from the airport itself. There is a bus from Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok) directly to the pier, however, it only runs once a day, at exactly 7.30 am, so there are difficulties with buying tickets. Step 6
There is an opportunity to get to Chang without worries and nerves on comfortable minibuses. Travel agencies in Khao San or at Suvarnabhumi Airport itself organize regular transfers to the ferry to Chang Island. The cost of such a trip varies between 600-700 baht, but you don't have to worry about the organization.
