Russians who prefer active holidays are annually looking for countries of interest to visit. Meanwhile, in our homeland there are many places worthy of attention. One of them is the sight of Siberia - Kungurskaya cave.
The cave is located in the Perm region near the city of Kungur. It became famous for its crystal clear air and many beautiful lakes. There are almost 50 grottoes in this cave, which tourists from all over the world strive to admire.
At the request of visitors, a thematic excursion can be held in the Kungur Cave or elements of a laser show can be included in the program. There have been cases when weddings were held here.
The age of the cave is impressive - more than ten thousand years. In written sources, it was first mentioned in the 18th century; the first excursion was held in 1914. The cave revealed its secrets to one of the first visitors - Nicholas II's sister-in-law Princess Victoria von Battenberg. In 1948, a scientific station was established at the cave, thanks to which many lakes and grottoes were discovered.
Rumor has it that Yermak wintered in these places in the 16th century before going to Siberia. This is evidenced by the cross, icons and stone crypt found in the grottoes. However, there is another opinion: these traces were left by the hiding Old Believers.
There are other legends about the cave. One of them tells about the mysterious White Speleologist, who is shown only to people with a bad conscience. Another tells how a little girl, Louise, daughter of Victoria von Battenberg, fell on the steps and broke her knee. She subsequently grew up to become queen, marrying the Swedish king. All would be fine, but unmarried girls since then deliberately break their knees here, wanting to repeat the happy fate of Louise.
Although the cave stretches for almost 6 kilometers, no more than 1, 5 of them are open to tourists. But even this is enough to get an unforgettable experience of amazingly clean lakes, cool caves even in hot summer, centuries of growing stalactites and stalagmites.
The grottoes open up amazing natural beauty. Brilliant - stunning ice patterns; Polar - an ice column resembling a frozen waterfall; Ruins of Pompeii - sculptures of a turtle and a crocodile created by nature itself, Sculptural - a stone Princess Frog.
All this in a single ensemble represents a unique natural monument, from which it is impossible to take your eyes off.
