Greece has a huge number of resorts for every taste. What should you choose? Islands or a vacation on the mainland, or maybe you should pay attention to its peninsular part? Moreover, there are two main historical sites: the Peloponnese and Halkidiki.
Peloponnese
There are two seas here at once: the Aegean and the Ionian. The peninsula is connected to the mainland by a small isthmus. Having decided to visit the Peloponnese, a tourist gets the opportunity to visit such famous cities as Argos, Sparta, Mycenae, Patra, Epidaurus. Lovers of excursions and historical beauties have a place to roam.

• Olympia village
At the confluence of the Alfios and Kladeos rivers, at the foot of the Kronos hill, lies the very first Olympic village. It was built in ancient times. A long time ago, this place was the sanctuary of the main god of Olympus - Zeus. From here began the development of the Olympic Games, the whole history of their formation is enclosed in this majestic archaeological complex. In addition, here you can see the famous Roman baths, the house of the priests, the temple of Zeus, in which the Olympic flame first appeared.
• Temple of the earth goddess Hera
The oldest Greek temple was founded around 600 BC. The temple was not completely preserved, only the base and the lower part of the columns remained. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the 4th century, an earthquake destroyed most of the building. Opposite the ruins of an ancient temple is a huge altar dedicated to Zeus.
• Ruins of the city of Corinth
Even before our era, the city of Corinth was very developed and prosperous. Since it was a port city, there was a brisk trade between the western and eastern parts of the country. At one time, Julius Caesar himself founded a whole Roman colony here. Local residents were fortunate enough to see the Apostle Paul with their own eyes and hear his sermons.
In Corinth, there are ruins from buildings dating back to the Roman era and to an earlier time, when beliefs in the Olympian gods reigned on the peninsula. This is reminiscent of the temple in honor of Apollo, built in 550 BC.
Halkidiki
Halkidiki resembles Poseidon's trident in shape. A famous and popular resort destination, one of the best in all of Greece. The cleanest beaches, natural and historical monuments. A place of pilgrimage for Christians because of the famous Republic of Athos and other religious buildings, monasteries, monuments, Byzantine heritage.
Men are allowed into the holy monasteries only with special passes, and women have been banned from entering for ten centuries. This place will conquer anyone: lovers of spacious golden beaches, fans of knowledge and history, and romantic couples.
The peninsular resort part of Greece is the pride of the country, and everyone can see its beauty.
