Foggy Albion, or Great Britain, is a unique place popular with travelers. Great Britain is located in the British Isles, about which there is a lot to tell.
Great Britain is an amazing kingdom that includes four parts, each of which is famous for its unique traditions and customs. For travelers, these places are simply heavenly - a huge number of attractions, impressive Gothic-style castles, unique red double-decker buses, English cuisine and much more attract people from all over the world to these foggy lands.
Geographical location of Great Britain
Great Britain is located in the northwest of Europe, occupying the island of Great Britain, part of the island of Ireland, as well as a huge number of small islands lying nearby. This system of islands is washed by the Irish and North Seas and the Atlantic Ocean. The coastline of the British Isles is very indented, so there are many natural harbors that are favorable for shipping. Previously, this advantage was used to build and supply the famous English fleet.
The relief of the island of Great Britain is mostly flat and low-lying, but mountain systems are observed in the north and west of the island, the highest point is 1343 meters. The rivers in these places are short - the Severn has the longest river bed. Its length is 390 km. Like many rivers in Great Britain, the Severn is navigable.
Climate
Thanks to the Gulf Stream, which flows near the British Isles, the climate of Great Britain is humid and mild. The locals are not exposed to frost even in winter, but there are frequent rains and fogs, which have already become the hallmark of Great Britain. But this does not mean that the kingdom is wet every day - in spring and summer, the rains are quickly replaced by the sun.
Administrative division
Despite the fact that Great Britain appears on the map as a single whole, it is divided into four regions that have developed historically - England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Each of the regions is also divided into parts called counties. All this is controlled by the capital of the state - London, which is located in the main administrative unit called Greater London.
Initially, there was only England, which was later joined by the rest of the regions, forming the now known United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. That is why, moving within the framework of one state, one can notice great differences in architecture, culture and national color of local residents.
