A correctly taken photograph on a foreign passport is important primarily because it is the comparison of a citizen's appearance with this image that allows border and other officers to establish the identity of a person.
Basic requirements for passport photography
At the moment, foreign passports of the spirit of types are being issued in the Russian Federation: documents of the so-called old type, containing only paper pages intended for use for five years, and documents of a new type, containing an electronic data carrier that allows them to be used for ten years.
A photo for a foreign passport must correspond to the standard size of 3.5 by 4.5 centimeters. The image on it can be black and white or color, the face must be located strictly from the front. In this case, the subject's face should occupy most of the photo in order to be clearly distinguishable, his eyes should be open and look into the lens, and his facial expression should be calm and without additional emotions, for example, a smile. The paper used to print the photo should be matte so as not to create glare when viewing it. The background of the photo should be solid, preferably light, without glare or shadows.
People who in everyday life constantly wear glasses can be photographed for a passport with glasses, however, the glasses must allow you to clearly see the eyes, including their color: thus, photographing in tinted and other types of glasses that cover the iris of the eyes is not allowed. No headwear should be used in the photo either. An exception is allowed for people who are prohibited by religious beliefs from appearing in front of strangers with their heads uncovered, but in this case, he should not cover their faces. As for the new type of foreign passport, today in most of the territorial branches of the FMS of Russia, photographing of the applicant is carried out directly on the spot by the employees of the organization at the time of submission of documents. Therefore, it is not necessary to provide additional photographs.
