The foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is the main document that he must have when leaving the country. What does a modern Russian passport look like?
The procedure for the movement of citizens of the Russian Federation across the border, including issues related to the execution of documents, is regulated by a special normative legal act, which contains all the main provisions regarding the passport of a resident of the Russian Federation. The specified normative legal act is called Federal Law No. 114-FZ of August 15, 1996.
The appearance of the passport
The foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is a stitched book with a size of 125 by 88 millimeters. The outer cover of such a document is made of a special material with high wear resistance, painted in dark red. In the upper part of the passport there is an inscription "Russian Federation", under it there is a coat of arms of the country in the form of a two-headed eagle, and below - an inscription "Passport".
It should be remembered that currently, citizens of the Russian Federation have the opportunity to obtain two types of foreign passports: an ordinary one and one containing an electronic chip. The last type of passport contains a special electronic medium on which all the basic information about its owner is recorded in a machine-readable form.
One of the main differences between these types of documents is that a regular passport has a validity period of 5 years, while a passport containing an electronic medium is valid for 10 years. Their appearance is also somewhat different from each other: for example, the inscriptions "Russian Federation" and "Passport" on the new passport are duplicated in English, while the old passport contains only Russian-language inscriptions. In addition, a symbol of an electronic carrier is depicted on the cover of the new passport.
Content of the passport
The number of pages in the foreign passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation depends on the type of document in question. So, the old passport contains 36 pages, while in the new passport their number has been increased to 46. Nevertheless, both passports contain all the basic information about the owner: his last name and first name, gender, date of birth, date of issue and validity of the passport and some other information. In addition, both passports are obligatory provided with a photograph, which is one of the main tools for identifying its owner by border and other officers both during the border crossing process and during the entire trip abroad. At the same time, blank pages of the passport are used to affix service marks about crossing the border and sticking visas in those states where their presence is required.
