Tourists visiting Moscow, first of all, tend to see Red Square, stroll along the old Arbat, perhaps visit the Tretyakov Gallery and at least see the Bolshoi Theater outside. All these sights of the city are actually worth seeing. However, there are many other interesting places in Moscow.
Instructions
Step 1
The oldest part of Moscow is the Moscow Kremlin. It is located in the very center of the Russian capital on Borovitsky Hill. On the territory of the Kremlin, you can see the Assumption, Archangel and Annunciation Cathedrals, as well as the famous Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell.
Step 2
Near the Kremlin walls is Red Square - the main square of the capital. It houses the famous St. Basil's Cathedral, the State Historical Museum, the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, and the Lenin Mausoleum.
Step 3
The Assumption Cathedral, erected by the Italian architect Aristotle Fioravanti, is part of the Moscow Kremlin ensemble. It deserves special attention. For many centuries the cathedral was the center of the state and spiritual life of the country. There was also the main Russian shrine - the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God.
Step 4
The Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed (the original name was the Cathedral of the Intercession on the Moat) is an unusually beautiful temple that enjoys worldwide fame. It was built by Pskov architects Postnik and Barma in honor of the capture of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible. There is a terrible legend according to which the king ordered to blind the creators of the temple so that they would no longer create anything like this.
Step 5
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior was erected in honor of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 and in memory of the fallen soldiers. Once upon a time the great Russian artist Vasily Ivanovich Surikov worked on the painting of the temple. Unfortunately, on December 5, 1931, the building was destroyed; work on the restoration of the temple was carried out from 1994 to 1997.
Step 6
The most famous museum in the capital is, of course, the Tretyakov Gallery, founded in 1856 by the famous Russian entrepreneur, philanthropist and collector Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov. It houses masterpieces of Russian art, including such famous works as "Trinity" by Andrei Rublev, "Horsewoman" by Karl Bryullov, "Alyonushka" and "Heroes" by Viktor Vasnetsov, and even "Black Square" by Kazimir Malevich.
Step 7
The Bolshoi Theater is the most famous opera and ballet theater in the country and abroad. It is located in the center of Moscow, on Teatralnaya Square. The repertoire of the theater consists of the best works of the world opera and ballet classics performed by professionals of the highest level.
Step 8
The old Arbat cobblestone is a familiar symbol of old Moscow and a favorite place for foreign tourists. The museum-apartment of A. S. Pushkin, the Vakhtangov theater, the house where Bulat Okudzhava lived, and many other interesting buildings, each of which has its own history.
Step 9
Victory Park is a memorial complex created in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Sometimes it is called Poklonnaya Gora after the place where it is located. It is believed that it was on Poklonnaya Hill that Napoleon waited in vain for the delegation with the keys to the Kremlin. In honor of the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812, a panoramic museum of the Battle of Borodino was opened on the mountain.
Step 10
Tsaritsyno Park was opened after restoration in 2007 and immediately became one of the most popular places in Moscow. In the second half of the 18th century, the Grand Palace for Catherine the Great was erected here by the architect Vasily Bazhenov. However, it seemed to the queen too gloomy, further construction work on the estate was carried out under the leadership of Matvey Kazakov. Today Tsaritsyno amazes with the restored pseudo-Gothic architecture and the "singing light fountain", created quite recently.
Step 11
The historical and architectural museum-reserve Kolomenskoye is no less interesting. On the territory of the former royal estate there are the restored palace of Alexei Mikhailovich, the house of Peter the Great, the Church of the Ascension of the Lord and the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, especially revered in Russia.
