If you go to Phuket not for a couple of weeks, but for a longer time, for example, to spend the winter there, then you will want to rent a comfortable accommodation. A villa or a large spacious home is a great option for a holiday on this tropical island. Phuket offers a variety of opportunities, where you can find and rent any housing options.
What is meant by a villa
When you inform an intermediary or acquaintances that you are looking for a villa, you should understand what is meant by this word in Thailand. Usually this is a luxurious two- or three-story house, it always has a large garden, but in Phuket you can be offered a rather simple villa: a small two-story house with a living room, a couple of bedrooms and bathrooms, and a kitchen. Typically the villa has a courtyard garden and pool.
Three ways to rent a villa
In total, there are three generally accepted ways to rent a good apartment in Phuket.
The first is contacting a realtor. There are many Russian-speaking companies on the island that act as intermediaries between local owners and visiting compatriots who want to have a good rest. You can negotiate with such realtors at home by choosing a villa on the Internet. You can discuss everything that you would like to know, clarify all points in advance, even draw up an agreement. The method has only one drawback: as in Russia, Russian realtors in Phuket take a commission in the amount of a monthly payment. If you come for 2-3 months, then such a commission may not seem very pleasant.
The second way is to search Thai newspapers and local websites. For this, it is useful to know English, it will not be superfluous to have a friend in Thailand who will translate some ads in Thai. The fact is that not all Thais who rent out housing speak English.
The third way is independent searches right on the spot. When you first arrived in Phuket, first check into a hotel, and then go to the area that you like. If the house is for rent, then there is a sign on it, so you will just need to go around and look for such offers by making calls to the indicated phones. It is best to rent a motorbike or a car, you can arrange with a local taxi driver (a motorcycle taxi will be cheaper) to help you. The taxi driver, on occasion, can act as an interpreter, which is also very convenient.
Execution of the contract and some little things
Read the contract carefully. It is advisable that it be compiled in English so that you can understand everything there. It happens that you have to pay additionally for electricity, telephone, water, cleaning of the territory, garbage collection and other services, along with which the final cost of the villa varies greatly.
Pay attention to whether the village in which you live is guarded. Unfortunately, theft is not uncommon in Phuket. Also find out if the Internet is connected to the house. Various little things, like having a gazebo, sun loungers, trees that give shade, as well as the infrastructure near the villa: all this is also important.
