There are several routes to get to Crimea from Moscow by car. Each has its own pros and cons. Somewhere a short road, but longer in time due to traffic jams, in another one will have to pass through large cities without bypass roads, in the third the entire road passes in Russia, but there is a lack of travel time and a ferry crossing.
Moscow - Crimea through the port "Kavkaz"
The road lies along the Don highway, through the cities of Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Krymsk, Anapa and the Taman Peninsula. At the port "Kavkaz" you need to load the car onto a ferry and, after passing the Kerch Strait, find yourself in the city of Kerch of the Republic of Crimea. The advantage of this route is the road that passes only through Russia without crossing borders and customs. It is also cheap gasoline, ruble currency, familiar rules of road behavior. But this route is one of the longest and longest routes to Crimea. Cities such as Krasnodar and Rostov will have to drive through, which will be tiring for some, and additional impressions for others.
Many more ferry services are considered a big minus. During the tourist season, there are huge queues of cars on the ferry, which in time can reach up to 24 hours. The crossing is also paid, in order to transfer a car from one coast to another, you will have to pay from 1200 r, depending on what class the car is and how much horsepower it has. In addition, you will have to pay for passengers - 180 rubles. for one person.
Traveling along this route is by far the safest option due to recent events in Ukraine. The city of Kerch is located in the easternmost part of the peninsula, and for those who want to visit Yalta, Evpatoria and other cities, there is still a long trip around the peninsula.
Moscow - Crimea via Ukraine
The route along the Simferopol highway has a short road. The path lies through such cities as Tula, Orel, Kursk, Belgorod, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Melitopol. The road will lead to the city of Dzhankoy, which is the center of Crimea, from where there are roads to all other cities of the Crimean peninsula. The big disadvantage of this route is the many hours of traffic jams, especially during the peak season, and a huge number of traffic police and traffic police on the roads.
There is a route along the Don highway through Voronezh, Rostov, Taganrog, the Ukrainian cities of Novoazovsk, Mariupol and Melitopol. The advantage of the route is that most of the route lies in Russia and cheap gasoline, which can be purchased for rubles. Also, the border point is not overloaded, like others, and you can freely cross it.
Those who do not like big cities, do not want to stand in big traffic jams and queues for the ferry, choose the route Moscow - Voronezh along the Don highway, then turn to Rossosh, Kantemirovka and reach Novobelaya, a border village. There the customs point is practically free and even during the peak season there is a small queue of cars. After customs, the road goes through the Ukrainian cities of Lugansk, Donetsk, Mariupol, Dzhankoy. The main advantage of the route is that the road is calm along its entire length, with practically no traffic cops and traffic cops.
